I have been in a Arc welding class for 5 weeks now on tuesdays and thursdays from 5pm to 10 pm. So far we have completed one project and started on the second. The first project was to cut a 4"x4" 3/8" plate and weld stringers across the entire surface then rotate the plate 90 degrees and repeat. One side of the plate was done with 6010 rods and the other side was with 7018. Each completed plate has about 65 beads on it. I turned in my 3rd plate and "squeezed" out an A. The second Project is a cross with the main plate 2 1/2" wide and two 1" plates on either side of it. We are going to fill each fillet with 6010, 7018, or 7024. Reply:I did the same type of samples in college as well. I thought the class fees were expensive at the time. Then afterwards, when I had to buy my own rods and metal, I realized how much I burned up in rods those nights in class. You can actually do a lot of work in 4 hours of shop time. Glad to see you making progress!!! Good luck with your future welding. I hope you get as much out of it as I did and MORE!Lincoln Power Mig 210MP MIGLincoln Power Mig 350MP - MIG and Push-PullLincoln TIG 300-300Lincoln Hobby-Weld 110v Thanks JLAMESCK TIG TORCH, gas diffuser, pyrex cupThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 101My brain |
