I have only been welding for a month now, taking classes at the local college. This was done on 3/8 in. steel with a double bevel butt weld, i guess thats what you would call it. It was done on a miller syncrowave 180 at 80 amps with 6011 root pass and 7018 over it. It was bend tested and passed so I guess I did something right. Sorry for the unclear picture was taken with a cell phone.
Reply:Who,been away for awhile, saw your post was still at zero, so here's some feedback for you. Congratulations on passing the bend tests. Did you do a face, a root, or side bend? What was the weld position, flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead? What stands out for me is the very pronounced weave pattern. It looks very uniform, equal width, evenly spaced. You have very good hand control. It looks a bit too coarse, not overlapping each weave enough and maybe cold. If this weld was ground flush, not a problem, but the deep valleys and high ridges of the "Z" pattern should be smoother to eliminate notches that act as crack initiation points (stress risers). Also the amount of spatter may be excessive, indicating excessive arc length?Maybe a little hotter, tighter weave, tighter arc length? Thanks for the photo.
Reply:for stick welding thats very nice..nice stitch job ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home. |
