What is this hood? Jackson or Huntsman? I type in Jackson Nitro hoods and get both. Some have 2 sensors some have 3 but there the same hood. I want to buy this hood because of the price but i want to know that its the right description. This one in particular says its a Jackson helmet and has 3 sensors. http://store.cyberweld.com/jaweheniwdal.htmlThanks you,Tom
Reply:I believe they are the same brand, just have two labels. Anyway, here's a link to the same exact helmet with a lower price tag.http://store.weldingdepot.com/cgi/we...ml?id=4mcdbqHM"SOUTHPAW" A wise person learns from another persons mistakes;A smart person learns from their own mistakes; But, a stupid person.............never learns.
Reply:Thanks Papa.lol..Ok so i'm pretty sure im going to get it..now im just wondering if there is anybody out there that has one and what they think about it.ThanksTom
Reply:Ah yes, the Nitro. It's a good helmet. It could be better, but it's just fine for your average job...I was getting flashed tigging today, so, just make sure you turn your sensitivity all the way up... (unfortunately, that means this thing activates when I'm underneath the shop lights- eep)Make sure you get the new headgear, the old one kinda sucks.Keeping it down in the hood...literally!

Reply:An Elite is out of the question..I only stick weld, It says it comes with the new 370 headgear. Is that the good headgear? How many arc sensors does it have? Im finding more websites that say it only has 2 than i am that say it has 3.
Reply:Yeah, the 370. I ordered from WeldingDepot, but they sent me an old model (without a 370 attached) so you may have to buy the headgear separately. It seems to me that the thing has two arc sensors, if you don't count the solar panel. But, you do stick work, so I'm sure it'll be fine for you.Keeping it down in the hood...literally!
Reply:welding Depot says it will come with the new 370 headgear..I was really hoping it had that extra sensor..now im reconsidering
Reply:I personally use a Lincoln now, that has only 2 sensors. I do a lot of low amp TIG and haven't had any problems with being flashed yet. Before that I had a cheap hood from Northern Tool, which didn't give me any problems until a short while back.
Reply:That is what I like about the Digital Elite. The hood has the normal sensors on it but also a magnetic arc sensor if all other sensors are blocked. Of course it is pricy but cyberweld.com has it for about 300. And its a lot cheaper than potential eye damage.Victor Journeyman OA TorchVictor Edge RegulatorsLincoln 180HD (240v) MIG/FCAWShark LT v7 CADMiller Digital Elite Helmet35 Milligrams of Insanity
Reply:alright guys..Im an 18 year old high school senior and work 16 hours a week at P&G. I dont have anything to spend to begin with. An elite or any of the real high end hoods are out for now. Im not in any wierd positions where i would really be apt to have the sensors blocked. I prolly only weld 5 hours a week due to school and the cold weather and not having much of a steel pile. Thanks for the help.Tom |
