One of the companies I work for has been using a regular grain auger to transport propant (sand) when working on large jobs, the problem is they take it down some nasty lease roads at 100km/h. All they have is a solid axle with the A frames bolted it on. So needless to say they have wrecked a few. They came to me one day to try building a suspension for it while still allowing the boom of the auger to move up and down like it's supposed to. So i built a tandem axle frame that bolts to where the original tires went, allowing the frame to pivot over large bumps and the springs to give the tires a bit of independant movement over the small stuff Attached ImagesFreelance Fabber91 GMC 3500 Portable welding truckLincoln Weldanpower 8000 gas welderMiller CST 250 Smaw/Gtaw inverterMillermatic 210 gmaw line welderHyperterm plasma
Reply:The auger is the tongue of the trailer right? I've seen the same with plain chain elevators. Beats them to pieces on ordinary roads. Guys in the ag industry hook up to something--------------------------------and they never look back .Excellent idea. Great work there.

Reply:It's actually a belt conveyor, not a screw auger. but these oil patch operators are worse, always in a rush to get to location, every lease road is a rally coarse to them Freelance Fabber91 GMC 3500 Portable welding truckLincoln Weldanpower 8000 gas welderMiller CST 250 Smaw/Gtaw inverterMillermatic 210 gmaw line welderHyperterm plasma
