Okay ladies and gentlemen.... since I really don't have too much going on to occupy my time tonight I'm going to post some more jobs that I've done... This is the main pin that connects the stick, bucket and thumb of this machine..... it was pretty wiped. I ended up repairing and boring the stick, bucket and the thumb.Do you think there may be some wear showing in this pic?http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...d/P4150011.jpgSetting up the boring bar...http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...d/P4170010.jpgTypically on a job that will only require 1 build-up pass I will usually cut the bore true prior to welding... this accomplishes a few things... makes it easier to run your build-up passes in a bore that is round and not egg shaped... reduces the chances of pulling any bearing material into the weld making machining difficult....Cut clean up pass and started welding bores...http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...d/P4170012.jpgWelding completed... only needed a single pass...http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...d/P4170021.jpgMachine bores...http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...d/P4170023.jpgBores are ruff cut to within .001 to .003 of the finished size... I will then hone the bores to the finished size...http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...d/P4180001.jpgRepair is complete... new spacer, bushings and seals installed.http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r...d/P4240008.jpgThanks for stopping by.... hope you enjoyed the show._________________Chris

Reply:Those portable mills are neat. I got to see one in action when we had to redo the end pin on an N2 tank trailer unit.Freelance Fabber91 GMC 3500 Portable welding truckLincoln Weldanpower 8000 gas welderMiller CST 250 Smaw/Gtaw inverterMillermatic 210 gmaw line welderHyperterm plasma |
