Our sister branch did a job on trailer alittle while back and after the customer took  their trailer back to them a few times and not being happy  they brought up to our branch for us to check it first off we had to retwist the trailer as they never did right then on closer inspection we found the trailer had 2 bent axles so our sister branch is up for alot of money to fix it it may end up around $6000-$7000 customer won't step foot back in the other branch  so we have to do all the work and charge the other branch lesson being check a million times fit once even that this is not a welding job its part of what we have do at work and the same rule of welding applys check check check heres were we are up with a limp duck stuck in the shed till new parts get here it was a great job to get hit with 1st day back after holidays  Creative metal Creative metal Facebook

Reply:Hey Wello ............ "heres were we are up with a limp duck stuck in the shed till new parts get here it was a great job to get hit with 1st day back after holidays" In the States it's not a "limp duck" we use a different vowel instead of the "u". Guess things are different on the bottom of the world.... LMAOWashman

Reply:in the second pic i can see "dangeling" air brake canisters in the front wheel house..and in the middle wheel house it looks like a shock absorber is left hanging in mid air..thats what i see anyway.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Wello,  I got a question for ya.  Are you guys required to have wheel wells on your trailers?  And are you allowed to run recaped tires?  In the US we don't require wheel wells (at least not in Maryland) and recaps are the tire of choice.  The highways are covered in torn-up tire tread from failed recaps.  I was just behind a truck that lost one the other morning and I can tell you it is ugly  .   I would hate to be on a bike and have to deal with that! That aint heat lightning in the neighborhood tonight...

Reply:were the axels instaled bent or was it due to wait? or are you saying they were instaled out of square??i see a bent axel as an indicator of over loading, be it due to the customer exceeding the trailor limits or the wrong one (under sized) being instaled. if its the right axel it would seem it being bent would fall on the customer for overloading and be his bill. if its due to under sized axels i can see it being the other shops fault for installing the wrong axel unless the customer requested those axels?i guess i just have truble understanding how you end up with bent axels on a big rig without the customer doing some thing wrong here?as for twisting it, well ya got me on that one as i dont build them so i'm not shore what a twist to a trailor is?? maybe you could inlighten us non-trailor builders summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
Reply:hehe I work at a trailer manifacturer, we biuild the big 53 footers... I work on suspension welding axels and what not. I dont see how the axels could have been bent unless the trailer was over loaded, but perhaps the twisted frame could have been a factor. Double checking everything is something everyone should do. it helps, ive been off before and its easier to break tacks and re position then have to cut through weld.
Reply:fun4now the reason the axles were bent is because our sister branch never got them repaired the rightway to start with and as the customer did not want to deal with the other branch again so he brought the problem to us to fix the other branch has to pay the bill .the different between the other branch and ours is if we get a trailer in to repair with bent axles we throw them over our shoulder in a manner of speaking   and fit new ones it may cost more but it dosn't come back to bit you on the butt like this one crimsonb5421 the axles were only bent because they wern't fixed the first this trailer was in a accident and our sister branch doesn't go as far as the branch I work at in doing the job right thats why we ended up with it 53ft thats a good size our longest legal trailer beside things like low loaders is 48 ft I should of said our closest sister branch as there's 6 branch's all together Last edited by wello; 01-08-2007 at 04:10 AM.Creative metal Creative metal Facebook
