shooting tower

Has anyone got a picture of a tower welded up for a shooting platform.I am interested in looking at construction so I can incorporate some strength with cross braces out of lighter steel.I do not want to risk safety when building.Any pics of ladder type stands with a platform would be ok also.

Reply:Thank you are exactly right about weight.However I am building this one to be permantly mounted to be a shooting platform for archery.So  this one will not be moved once it is erected like the portable ones that some move from spot to spot.I am guessing some landowners have built a permanent structure on there own land and then use it year to year with no intention of moving it around.Thanks for imfo.Gary

Reply:Here are some pics of stands I have built over the years . They are made of pipe  and are made for rifle hunting, not much room to manuver a bow. They were built to be transported in a 4x6 ft. trailer 200 miles to where they are erected. Attached Images
Reply:There shouldn't be anything scientific about bracing or cross-bracing.  Just keep it uniform. If you absolutely have to have a pattern to go by, you might check out scaffolding like a brickmason uses.  They are braced with folding crossbraces on each side and braced every 6 feet or so of height.

Reply:If it is going to be permenant then be sure to use concrete footings. This will really secure it well. Also be sure to make your cross braces work in compression under twisting moments from both clockwise and counterclockwise twisting.I can explain this better with a diagram but I dont have one. Let me know if you need a better explanation.Grant
