Reply:Sure would.
Reply:As long as it has a flat surface, I would.Good luck with convincing the wifey."SOUTHPAW" A wise person learns from another persons mistakes;A smart person learns from their own mistakes; But, a stupid person.............never learns.
Reply:I don't really have a place for it and I'd get it so long as the top is flat. The world is amazing when you are slightly strange.
Reply:Go look at it...then take the deal...if the sheet is in decent shape it's probably worth that...

Reply:Much depends on what you have the table planned for!! If you plan to use it for heavy fabrication involving alot of hard pounding then you'll you have to look at strength to framework and legs on the table as you'll have to add a thicker top to withstand the heavy pounding. If all you plan to use it for is table top welding and some light fabrication then the 1/4" top might work for you.As for the price of the table! It depends on it current shape and strength. Is it all banged up? all painted or rusty? Bent legs of cross supports?Co-Own CNC shop:Miller :1251 plasma cutter, MaxStar 700 TIG/Stick, & XMT 456 Multiprocess Welder.& 2 Hypertherm HPR260's Plasma CutterSorry I had a bad stroke but now I am back.
Reply:Dunno.. If it was me, I'd wait for a thicker top, minimum 1/2" thick. Welding tables come up all the time. Also, 4 x 4 may not be your optimal size. Do you have a pickup truck? How far are you willing to drive?1) Check craigslist (regional search = www.searchtempest.com) Enter search radius distance.2) Ebay, sort by distance from shop.I just found a table 2x3' in 3/4" steel top for $60, and that size happens to work much better for me. Legs are terrible, but I'm using that table to make my own, with drawer, storage, etc, then I'll flip the top from one to the other. good luck, zip.
Reply:I snagged it.Great legs, 2x2 square tubing, 1/4" wall.Top is in fair to good shape cosmetically. Very nearly perfectly flat. Close enough for me, for now.The leg braces are perfect for adding shelving/drawers, and it's built like a tank. When I need/want a new, flat, work surface, I'll go buy another piece and add it.Thanks for the advice y'all!-andy-
Reply:Regarding this table, and it being out in the (unheated) shop, what can I do to stop rust from forming on the table top? It's bare, and I'd like to keep it bare, but rust will be an ongoing issue. It's very light rust, that can be wiped away easily, but it's annoying as hell.-az-
Reply:Wipe it down occasionally with light oil.Jack OlsenMy garage website
Reply:hit it with a belt sander
Reply:Oil was what I was thinking, but just wanted to make sure that I wasn't creating a fire hazard. Thanks guys!-az-
Reply:Here right now a 3/8 sheet 4x8 is worth about 1000.00 bucks (CAD) so if it's decent grab it at that price absolutely.
