Can someone please explain the difference in painful detail. I know when using voltage sensing wire feeders you are supposed to use cv but all of the guys I know run feeders on cc and they don't know why "I dunno it's just the way we've always done it!" I do know when you turn up the wire speed when on cv the current increases and the wire won't short out. When you're on cc if you turn up the wire speed the voltage increases which will then cause the wire to short out eventually. I suspect stickout plays a part when using cc but not sure why. Also, weren't voltage sensing wire feeders around before constant voltage machines? I've found I can weld either way and do just fine once I dial the machine and feeder in... but it just bothers me!

I had been confusing the idea of "across the arc" capability with voltage sensing, they often go together but they are not the same thing.http://www.hobartwelders.com/weldtal...hp/t-6207.htmlhttp://www.millerwelds.com/resources...rticles52.htmlhttp://www.esabna.com/us/en/newslett...re-Feeders.cfmRichardSculptures in copper and other metalshttp://www.fergusonsculpture.comSyncrowave 200 Millermatic 211Readywelder spoolgunHypertherm 600 plasma cutterThermal Arc GMS300 Victor OA torchHomemade Blacksmith propane forge

Reply:Well that pretty much explains it all! Thanks for the links!
Reply:Hey, thats me in the first link Wow, a blast from the six years ago past. And I still don't know all the technicalities on the question, but I know what I do works!"Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man" |
