Well this is my first post, and everyone else is posting up there tables so I thought I would show you the one I finished about a year ago.  It is 5'x12' 1" thick a36 plate.  I used some 4"x4" 1/4" wall tubing.  The plate weights I believe about 2500 pounds, and the frame is about 500. From the pics I have with me it has six legs, casters, at the end of each leg I welded on 3/4" plate that I tap to 3/4" to mount in leveling pads (which are rated @ 7,000lbs. each), that bring the table up off of the casters, and that way I can level it, or move it w/o having to bring in a tractor. It also stands about knee height which makes getting on top easy, and loading/unloading much easier, it was about 6" on all edges for clamping, but eventually I would like to drill holes in grid for clamping later.  Enjoy, and let me know what you think. Andrew
Reply:dude!!! thats sweet. i have a 1 1/8" top on mine but its only 3'X5' i think and i love it but to go the size you did, man that would be cool. it would just about fill my hole welding room.great idea with the casters and levelers. verry well thought out. mine stays where it is and is not likely to move any time soon. although mine only took 6 people to get it in the shop i supose you used a lift of some type.verry cool , welcome and keep the pic's comming. summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.

Geez, what the heck were you working with that you needed somehting like that?  Seriously, looks very stout/well made.  There's tractor frames with less build.  How tall?ThermalArc 185MillerMatic 180 w/ AutosetVictor Cutskill Oxy/AcetyleneThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 38and spite!

Reply:Thanks Guys, hopefully soon I will get it sand blasted, and painted.  I am waiting to get a magnetic dill press to drill the clamping holes, When I first mounted the plate on the frame the plate wouldn't sit flat.  So I used some 1/2" thick 5"x5" angle iron on the bottom of the fame and top of the plate using some big c clamps, and a precision straight edge clamped and welded 5" tacks going from one end to the other got the plate welded down to the frame, and couldn't see light under the straight edge.  I believe the hole plate is within a 16th-32nd all the way around.  I have been using this for general purpose stuff as well as building a 1968 FJ40 frame from scratch on it.  I will post up some pics of that later.  Hope you enjoy.  AndrewHobart Handler 135 MIGLincoln Idealarc 255 MIGLincoln Precision Tig 225Lincoln "BUZZ BOX" Stick welderMiller 252 MIgHobart 350 DC stick welderMiller Bobcat 11,000-GEN/Stick WelderThermal Dynamics 55AMP Plasma Cutter

Reply:Gawd!  You gonna be fixing some crane booms or aircraft carriers?  heh, just kidding, if I had the room, mine would probably end up looking something like that.  You could have used pipe jacks for legs and just adjusted the hieght when needed.  Saw a table like that floating around the site and thought, 'what a great idea!'..  Weld away oh great table maker...Various GrindersVictor Journeyman torch200cf Acet. 250cf oxygenLincoln 175 plus/alpha2 gunLincoln v205t tigLincoln 350mpEsab 650 plasmaWhen you can get up in the morning, Its a good day.Live each day like its your last.
Reply:Verry nice.  I can apreciate a nice LEVEL  flat heavy bench.I mounted a 40' squirt boom on a Kodiak flat bed.  I had to shorten the bed by 30" and move the wheels ahead.  That last 30" of the flatbed made a really nice HEAVY welding bench.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Nice table..Bigger is better I'd like to find a platen table with the straps.. ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Thanks again guys, the height is around 24"-28" can't remember.  When welding something together around the edges those nice little seats like this, work great.  And on the FJ-40, by the time I have the axles on the table and the frame sitting in postion I will welding at mid-chest height.  The best part about it all was a friend got me the plate for $400 and the frame was from the scrap yard, all together I think I have about $700-800 in it.  I can also store roll cage tubing under it across the caster supports, and makes it a nice setup over all.     Thanks AndrewHobart Handler 135 MIGLincoln Idealarc 255 MIGLincoln Precision Tig 225Lincoln "BUZZ BOX" Stick welderMiller 252 MIgHobart 350 DC stick welderMiller Bobcat 11,000-GEN/Stick WelderThermal Dynamics 55AMP Plasma Cutter
Reply:for rebuilding a car/jeep/truck on it i'll bet its a great hight. and $400 for the top is a slamming good deal.after leveling up the table with the feet it should make a great place to do a rebuild. i saw the one on the hot rod show boides i think and all i could think when i saw it was "WOW!! i gotta have one of them for my truck rebuild"  its bond to make the hole process much easyer and leveler so you can see the stance of the car/truck and make ajustments to get it the way you want it the first time. my 2nd thought was "it must be nice to have the $$$ for toys like that" good to see one of us normal people getting a cool toy like that.hummm "normal people" dont take that wrong, it was ment as a good thing. although few welders would be referd to by most as normal people.LOL  summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
Reply:I Dunno.. Is it just me..I see a problem with plastic padded...plastic covered seat as a welding seat..Leather yes... but....I.M.O.Thats a fire just waiting to happen.. And you do not need one down there... ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
