Well being a power engineer, shift work becomes a part of life. Night shifts can be the longest and hardest especial when everything goes south. Came into work last night to a big mess. I run a large solid fuel boiler which burns sawdust for a sawmill for fuel. We have a large hydraulic driver scrapper setup which pulls the sawdust onto a feed chain. This feed chain is about 240 feet long. One of the scrapper eye broke off and fell into the sawdust were it jammed and tore the chain up pretty bad. We were going to change the chain soon and now I need to do it.  This is a good size job and requires a fair amount of manual work to complete. I started it at the start of my shift 1900Hrs and had it running by 0539Hrs the next day. The most funny thing about this is the timing. We were having the odd nice day but still a little cool. Well that changed yesterday. It was almost 90F here yesterday and you need to added about 20-30 degrees to that in the boiler house. Its cooled a little over the night but not allot. I must say I slept good today. Here are soon pics off the job. Sorry for to quality of the pics as I only had my cell phone with me last night. Here is the eye that broke Another pic of the eye.Work area were the chain is installed and removed fromMe Me working. Reply:Nothing like doing hot work... on a hot day.... in a building that is inherently hotter than the outdoors. Better you than me.... I know the felling all too well. It was pretty sticky in my area today.... told the boss if this was an indication of what summer was going to be like, we'd have to close up 1st shift and start a 3rd...lol._________________Chris
