I am looking for a solution that can work as both anti spatter and as an anti rust. This is needed for welding along the coastal areas where the steel sheets come precoated with anti rust primer. But to weld, the primer is first removed by grinding. Thereafter, an anti spatter is applied to carry out the welding. the problem is that the cleaned up part (grinded to take off the primer) gets rusted just too soon. If there could be a solution wherein an anti spatter could as well act as an anti rust, it would save upon a lot of manual reworking on the same job.
Reply:Yea,When you find that "magic potion" please let me know. I'll take a 55gal drum of it.I think you'll find that the "anti-rust additive" you refer to is "mill scale" and is a result of the rolling process for the metal and not applied as an anti rust application.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.

Reply:http://www.weldaid.com/index.phpI swear by their weld aid 350 spray. I use it all the time when I weld on bridges. It usually takes a few days for the paint crew to come by to touch up the paint I have to grind off to weld the bearing plates up.Lincoln 300 Vantage 2008300 Commander 1999SA250 1999SA200 1968Miller Syncrowave 200XMT350MPA/S-52E/xr-15Xtreme 12vs Millermatic 251 w/30A Millermatic 251 Dialarc 250 Hypertherm 1250 GEKA & Bantom Ironwokers
