I bit unusual request...I don't normaly do any cast iron work because I don;t know much about it. So anyway this seemed harmless and the older woman was pleased. weld it like you own it
Reply:Looks good - what were the parameters, heat, wire or stick, settings?John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:Oh yeah ok Not much experience w/ cast so I did not use a nickel rod. I used 98/2 mix to try and achieve a mig spray arc w/ 35 wire. I heated the the iron a bit and went to town. wanted to try the nickel;however, uncharted territory.I used my torch more on this project weld it like you own it

Reply:That is a nice job, but could that be an FJ cruiser in the background.... Don't want to hijack your thread but if it is an FJ quit being a tease and get us a picture of that.
Reply:Ok Yes I can definitely open those cans of worms... That is a 79 w/ aluminum body w/ bilstien coilovers 3 link in rear and fuel cell gosh it goes on and on w/ mods like hydro steering have perfect hard top and side doors too....Been rolled five times and the last one the fiance was going up a monster hill and she took a bad line then we went back then barrel rolled twice ...landed in a tree on two wheels on the ground ....fenders, hood, of course windshield all destroyed. We were safe strapped in of course and it cranked right up and put it on the trailer.Anyway thats my other life I'll post pics and stories later if this board won't mind. As far as the welding I guess I could show some stuff...Hope I did'nt bore you all too much weld it like you own it
Reply:Bore us? All the talk about destruction and such is never boring. show us pics now that you've teased us with all that! What's better, when you roll it as the driver or the passenger? "Every choice you make will effect at least one other person" |
