I have a p216 on a ranger 8. It blows oil out the fuel pump and in the air box. So I think it may be the rings or bad cylinders,or both. My questions are does it have cast iron sleeves and can it be bored?? It runs perfect ,welds good ,I have done everything else so I am assuming rings. Thanks It only has 500 or so hrs??
Reply:Yes it has cast iron sleeves. Not sure if it can be re-sleeved or not. It appear the sleeve can be re-bored. I found a rebuild kit what has over sized parts available.http://onanparts.com/index.php?main_...roducts_id=124
Reply:if it runs good and has good compression it might not be rings or cylinder, mabe the breather?..if all else fails just chage the rings and give a quick hone to the cylinder and see if that works, it could just be a bad oil ring

Reply:Thanks for all the replies. I did put new rings and honed the cylinders,put new valve seals, the breather valve is good, cleaned and replaced. It runs perfect, it will smoke just a puff on start up.only when cold, after that it starts with no smoke. It will idle all day fine but when you go to full rpm it takes about 2 minutes and it starts to leak oil out of the fuel pump weep hole witch the fan picks up and throws all over. I don`t know where to go but to bore the cyl. I will admit that I didn`t check the cyl. to good for taper or out of round. I figured with 500 hrs it should be fine???? Stupid is as stupid does

Reply:When this happens its mostly a bad fuel pump, inner seal lets oil to blow out.
Reply:Yepper I tried that to. I put two different new ones on it from Stumpfs. I`m lost!!!  It runs so sweet I really hate to tear it down but it sprays that oil cause the fan picks it up and blows it everywhere. I painted it real pretty so I can`t stand to see it get all oily.
