I have a 1-1-101 cutting tip and want to burn thru 1" steel.  Will this size tip do the job?  I expect to set my Acet to 7 and Oxy to 40.  What do you think?
Reply:Why dont you look and see what thicknesses and pressures are recommended for that tip.  I think there might actually be charts 'n stuff with that information on it. Have we all gone mad?
Reply:That tip might be a bit small, take a look at:http://www.hoopersupply.com/tipchart.htmlHobart LX235Victor 250 Oxy-Acetylene Rig (welding and cutting)Bobcat 773F-350, 1999, 4x4, 16' 10K# trailerOutdoor Wood Burner - 10 cords/year
Reply:Wonderful site! Thanks! I am currently using a Victor 1-1-101 tip. I see that I need to use a 2-3-101 tip. this puts me into the 1" size I need. the former tip is only good up to 3/4".
Reply:Welcome to the site Jerry. If your not cutting 1" thick material everyday, the no.1 tip will work. On that thick of material I turn my pressures up to 10 aceteylene and 60 on the oxygen. Just have to travel a little slower. Now on thinner material the tip is to big and the pressures are to high. But you know what the saying is, the right tool for the job.

Reply:with the right pressures and a clean tip I cut 1 1/2 pretty fast. might want to just clean your tip, and make sure the plate is fairly clean.thermal arc mst400, va4000 feeder, lincoln 175 min, victor torches, miller s32p feeder, air arc k4000 for work.
