Where there is a will there is a way..Got a few of these to rebuild The bad journal on..Small (18" O.A.L. 5" rubber diameter) rubber rollers..I could not get the bearing off the other side and we all know what will happen if I grab the bearing in the 3 jaw chuck on the positioner...Ok..Time to "cheat".. 3 3/8" dia round pins 3/4" long is all you need..Put one jaw @ 6:00 and put a pin on it and balance the journal on it untill you get the outer 2 pins in place...You get the idea...Jeesh!Look at how worn out this is!!!!!Well it will wait untill tomorrow for welding...Its only 106 degrees in the shop and I'm going home...So I'll do it first thing in the A.M.I can't wait... ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Nice.............. Just curious, why not just cut the bearing off? Won't they replace it anyway before installing the roller? Not doubting you, I know you have your reasons, just curious. ~JacksonI'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......

Reply:Zap,after a second look at the pics,is that worn part of the shaft just the inner race of the old brg? MikeOl' Stonebreaker "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw
Reply:That's great idea Zap. If I may improve on it tig weld 3/8 stubs to inside of a flat iron ring so you don't have to hold them by hand. You could wrap cable tie around the chuck jaws to hold everything while you tighten up chuck each time.LarryTry not use $10.00 worth of time on $.10 job!!Miller Bobcat

Reply:It's not the RPM, it's the torque load...the first pin comes out like a bullet. When press operators have to chuck something like that up they'll do similar but use rectangular blocks with a relief (half moon) cut in one end. That gives you full contact on both ends of it and it also can't "rock" and unload and shoot out.Anything worth doing is worth doing RIGHT
