Here is the "old" welder.  For many years it was all I had.  Bought it new in the mid 80s. Lately I was towing it with the ford in the background. Attached ImagesReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:Nice compact trailer.  Looks like youve got all your goodies on it.  Too bad you cant get the adv proc on it    I do believe you could piggy back a boat and go fishing after work with that new truck!  heh.Various GrindersVictor Journeyman torch200cf Acet. 250cf oxygenLincoln 175 plus/alpha2 gunLincoln v205t tigLincoln 350mpEsab 650 plasmaWhen you can get up in the morning, Its a good day.Live each day like its your last.
Reply:Nice setup Dave. Make sure you get a bit more weight forward. If you have too much rearward weight, the trailer will fishtail. I forget the exact formula, but I think it is like 55% forward or more. A guy has a boat in the yard I was at yesterday where they were too rear heavy, with twin big outboards on a light raceboat. It actually lifted the trailer off the ball while bouncing down the road. Not good at all.And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.
Reply:Trailer weighs 1860 lbs.  Tongue weight 180 lbs.   The "Old" machine is going on that trailer as a spare.  DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Nice to see a workhorse Weldanpower.  I've also got one bought in the mid 80's with the 16 HP Onan engine, although I replaced the gas tank with an 8.5 gallon plastic one when the inside of the steel tank rusted.Yours looks like it was painted Lincoln red.  Mine, for some reason, is only painted in red oxide primer...sheet metal, engine, everything.  And no decals.  Odd.It's nice to see you bought another Lincoln welder.  I see so many blue ones it makes me puke.WeldingWeb forum--now more sophomoric banter than anything else!
Reply:69 ChevyThat weldman power has made me a ton of money over the years.  It has also served as my home generator through quite a few ice and snow storms.  YES the tank rusts.  I had to put a huge ford fuel filter in the line to keep the crap out of the carb.  I now have a plastic boat tank for it once its on the new trailer.  Just a spare unit.  My son is 15, he gets the old ford and if  he has the desire, he can hook on to the old welder and use it.Mounting the ranger 250 to the truck tomorrow.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:I'ves still got an old lincoln just like that one..  I haven't used it in years  but now that i am ready to retire i am gona take it off of my old truck and make a 2 wheel trailer for it so i can tow it with my little S-15 Jimmy now that Gas is so high. My ole welding truck has a Big block in it and is a 1 -ton with a really heavy steel plate welding bed on it.. I like the idea of having the compressor on it.... Thanks for sharing.. Terry
Reply:I just came back from TSC.  I bought a 61" X 27" X something tall aluminum box to fit on the back of the truck.  My daughter and I made scale bed with scale welder, compressor, tool box and tanks to lay it out.  Stay tuned tomorrow for the hopefully completed product.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Congrats on the new ride.  I used to have three trailer mounted setups, and still have two, but In my opinion Going to a service truck was the best thing I ever did.  I think you will be happy with the results. ~JacksonI'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:Here are a few pics of what I did today. Had to quit at 5 cause I got a date. I could not mount the air compressor because it looks like junk.  Gotta wire wheel it and add some primer then paint.  Red and black. Attached ImagesReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Compressor goes in the empty space.  I tried to save some room to carry steel.    o2, Acet, Co2 and Argon will be dropped through the deck and sit on some steel that goes all the way across the frame just in front of the black box on the pas side and in front of the compressor on the drivers side. Attached ImagesReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:I bought some Eagle ONE aluminum wheel etching solution at Auto zone and did some of the flat bed.  Drivers side is done, back is done, pas side and some of the deck needs more.Jackson, I always used a trailer because I didn't weld all the time.  Plates are $10.00 per year, no insurance......  I am doing more welding and have this nice red truck, so......The vice goes on the back on the passenger side.  Fuel fillers are on the drivers side. Reply:Today its over the scales to check each axle weight.  Before it was 6500 lbs empty.  I put the welder near the back because the front axle is already over loaded with the engine and plow frame.  Nuttin on the back cept the aluminum bed.  Inside the door it sez.  Front 4,498 bs, rear 6,086 lbs.  GVW 8,600.  Go figure.  Air compressor gets a paint job before mounting.I picked up a K&N air filter yesterday and been fiddeling with the tps to get it to shift properly.  I also purchased a 94 F150 with AC to put into this truck. Now thats going to be a project.  DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:No littlefuzz, I didin't build the bed, it came on the truck.  Sorry no new pics today.  I took out the leaking rear fuel tank so I could get a new one.  I did go to the scales.  4200 front 3300 rear the way it sits.  Need more weight on the rear.Tozzi, I was thinking about an international 43oo?  It was a lumber yard flatbed.  444 diesel, stick shift......  I would have to shorten it, but it could have made a nice heavy duty truck.  I really didn't want duel wheels.  I also looked at a ferign foriegn  import or whatever you call it forward control (cabover) truck.  Would have been nice except if you get in an accident you are the first one there. What year is the IH 1900?  I drove an 1800 tandem GAS powered 392 cid dump while I was in college.  Not international's best truck.  Hydraulic brakes, 5 & 3 speed, Burned LOTS of gas. It would vaporlock pulling the biggest hills.  There I was, engine quit, crap for brakes and a cheesy parking brake.  I kept pieces of 4x4 to block the wheels while it cooled off.I have a 3 day job out of town job starting on thursday, so I better get to it.  I don't need the rear fuel tank, but I need to get my O2, acet and Co2 bottles mounted.  No gouging on this job, so the air compressor can wait.  I am thinking of putting the compressor tank under the body to save some space.DavidLast edited by David R; 06-04-2007 at 06:57 PM.Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor. It is a 1980, with the turd 9L diesel(low miles, it was a vault company truck). The price is right, with a knuckle boom crane, 13' flat deck, and 6 good tires.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:Nice shape for the year.. Another Ford man.. You didn't go on your date in it did you??  ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Zap,Of course I went on the date.  A man has gotta have a social life too. No new pics.  Tomorrow I start a 3 day welding job.  Been catching up at the shop.  Did a bucket today, pics in another post.  My daughter took the truck to pick up some steel.  She thinks its great.  I did replace the rear fuel tank, filled it up at the reservation.  $2.68 per gallon, it took $99.00 to fill both tanks.  Holds about 36 gallons.  It fires right up even if I don't wait for the glow plugs.  Yeah, I guess I am a ford man when it comes to trucks. Reply:hi , im in the process of starting to build a welding trailer , for work instead of always having everything in my ute , for it so far i have , 2 toolboxes , 5.5hp petrol aircompressor , oxy/lpg kit , big vise , and am going to trade my old lincoln weldnpower for a new cigweld mpm 270 diesel welder weighing in at 302kilograms  , all mounted on a home built trailer
Reply:NOW I can carry up to 5 80 cf tanks.  Here is the rack.  tall tubes are 2 1/2" square 1/4" wall.  cross braces are 1/2 x 1 hot rolled.  There is a 32" X 6" X 3/8 plate bolted to the frame. The tall tubes are welded to it.  Pics of the mount later.  Needs more bolts. Reply:Here we go.  Finished product.  Now all I need is a vice and the air compressor.  I left the length of the bed so I can carry 10' lengths of steel.  The fuel tank doors are there too.David Attached ImagesReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Nice looking setup, if you work on your own vehicles, you may want to check out www.thedieselstop.com  All FORD diesel websight, with OBS Turbo PSDs, and an IDI section. (Non turbo) I have an 03 PSD with the 7.3L I love it. (Turned up just a tad, 'bout 320@the rear wheels!)  Could get higher, but I have "PMR",,, only good and dependable for maybe 400 RWHP. (Powedered Metal Rods, Not Forged) Anyway, I have been a member of that sight since Dec. 01, ummm my post count is kind of up there too,,, ( over 10,000 )  Now that I have found this sight, the wife won't see me much in the living room!
Reply:Yeah, I work on my own stuff.  I own a garage.  My main living is mechanic work.  My second job is weldor.  I am in the process of making welding my first job.  It takes less knowlege, but more skill.  I enjoy it.  I have used this set up quite a few times now.  I think going to a job, I at least look professional.  DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
