I just finished up a 10k job today consisting of 96', 24", 10ga grip strut.  I never would have thought that it would have taken that long, but after looking back at all the modifications to make it around all the pipe work I can see it now.  Fortunately it was all T&M.  One of the reasons it was so high in hours(over 70) was that we could not do any welding around the tanks(diesel and gas).  All fitup was done about 250' on the other side of their office.  About half the time was in the shop making some of the basic long pieces. Reply:I see bolts..I see nuts...I see alot of work...I see lots of shop time..I see engineering..I see pride in craftsminship..Where are the welds?Thats whats we're all here for......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Yeah.. I havn't posted any welds in a while... Tomorrow you'll see some more online.Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:The only thing I see bolted is that step down.  everything else looks to be welded or the bolts are hidden reallllly well.Come try it out and stay a while.
Reply:looks good looks like the tread is dropped into an angle frame is it all removable or is it welded to the frame ? either way looks good working in some tight spaces350P 30A spool gun cut master 51  syncro 250 other stuff " take a dog off the street and make him prosper and he will not bite you sad the same cannot be said for man" i didnt use punctuation just to piss you off
Reply:I like it.  Looks good.  I can tell there must have been some planning.      Now you need to sell them type of guard rail. Seriously.  Was there any sort of Code governing that build.  How did you anchor it?  How many 250' trips did you make per day?
Reply:There are about 15 sections of different sizes all bolted together under the grip strut.  The grip strut is free floating so they can access their hidden valves and pipe junctions if needed.  As for anchoring it, I used reds at each of the step down spots and a few more where it seemed proned to bounce.  As far as I know, there are no codes when you are only 20" above the ground.  So there would be no reason to add hand rail to the job.  As for trips back and forth... about 40 hours worth.Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:I mentioned a handrail because I have a commercial account.  The majority of the account consist of building rails.  You would be amazed at how many people break ankles/wrist by falling/tripping of curves.  I have put rails at place where the dirt has settled 3 inches below the side walk.  It is easier to get me to do it, than for them to go throw the channels to get there onsite maintenance crew to add dirt.Anyway, I'd sure try to sell the a rail.  Better pay you now, than a claim later.I'd be curious when OHSA would require a rail.
