I am building an ATV trailer to be used during bear season for running barrels and bait to my bait spot. I looked through every atv trailer thread on here but am unsure on how to attach my wheels to the trailer. The wheels i have came off an atv and have a 4 lug pattern. What is the best way to go about this? Can i buy correct axle parts online somewhere? Thanks!

Reply:Scott too funny! I was just commenting on one of your posts. I followed the link and i have read that thread. I still don't understand how to attach the wheels. Axles have that piece (don't know what it is called) that the lug bolts are attached to that the holes in the wheel slide over. Is there another way of attaching the wheel to an axle?I also followed the link to the northern tool site where you can buy spindles, but again, not sure how that attaches to the tires i have.
Reply:You have the spindle which is the post sticking out. You also have a hub which is configured two ways. First, it is configured for a specific spindle, and second it is configured for a specific bolt pattern.I think what you are looking for is a Hub?
Reply:If you have a spindle and hub set that doesn't fit your wheel bolt pattern you can sell them and buy ones that do or you can cut some plate and make an adapter since it will be only used for offroad.
Reply:Ok i must be looking for a hub. Since i just have wheels i would need to find hubs or make my own. Thanks!
Reply:What did the wheels come off of? Measure the distance from hole to hole and then across from hole to hole. Give me those measurements and I will look up the hubs for you. Since there are several styles to choose from I will list them cheapest to highest. There are several options as far as load bearing is concerned, but I wouldn't be too concerned about that as even the lightest route is probably more that you need. |
