Progress on my Project

Got a little work done on the insane minibike project. Thought I would post some pics of the progress so far. This is called the insane mini bike because it should do at least 50mph with this motor. Every peice on this bike has been fabbed by me, except the bolts, tires, and motor. Everything else has been bent on my bender, or cut on the Plasma Cam. Reply:I wish I could have done that as a kid..All I did was build a go cart and get run over... But nice job.. I like the exhaust Wear your Crash Helmit...not your Welding Helmit  ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Nice.  That looks like a fun project.  I have been contemplating building a high powered offroad go-cart with the suspension and the works.  You may have just motivated me to start.
Reply:Thanks for the feedback guys, and yes this thing is loud without a muffler. The little header pops and screams louder than a harley, but much higher pitched of course. I will probably muffle it somehow just to keep it halfway decent.Hey ZAP, you dont have to be a kid to build something like this. Im 27, and just got a bug up my arse. Its lo-buck fun, thats all. You can get just as much out of something like this as you can a real bike. The difference is this one is a lot less reliable, and a lot more dangerous. Reply:What engine is that?Anyways that awesome , I've still got my scooter project. I'm going to try and get a new engine for it. One of those minibike engines on it hopefully. No stupid trimmer engine.Keep up the good work.

Reply:Good Job. when is it getting powder coated ?it reminds me of a project i thought about doing, but i am still alive... i was thinking of a bar stool racer with a KZ 550 engine in it.... but thought that might be a little much.... i know the wife would freak if i rode it.... but it would have been fun the difference between men and boys are the price of the toys..... Reply:I havent decided if I am going to get it powder coated, or if I am just going to rattle can it. With as much work as I have put in it, I should drop a few dollars and have it powder coated, but I have a can of blue rustoleum laying around, and the color matches the engine color real nice, so I might just invest a couple of more bucks in another can and have at it.I think I should put a turbo on it too, but is that Hitachi HT 10-B suitable for a draw through setup? Reply:There's no substitute for cubic inches!  When you blow up that animal Briggs, stuff in one of those V-4 Wisconsin engines!  Might not handle like a dream, but I'd bet it would impress the Dairy Queen crowd!WeldingWeb forum--now more sophomoric banter than anything else!
Reply:I got the engine from Jacks Small Engine Warehouse when they used to carry them.I used to believe in the whole Cubic Inches Myth until I got my first 4cyl turbo car. Fuel economy and high power in one awesome package. Well, I decided on a fixed angle for the motor mount, but it slides left to right for adjustment. Reply:My minibike, since this picture was taken there has been an addition of a supercharger, makes 8lbs boost.  Blows through a C.V. carb taken off of a KLX 300. Will take a photo and post it also. Attached Images
Reply:Nice bike riceburner, Ive seen it before. I like the cushman eagle look. Mine is going to be fine without boost. It will it weighs 75lbs rightnow, and all I have left is to mount pegs, a brake caliper, and a small fuel tank. Reply:I think my digital camera takes can take small movie clips, when its done i will take a small vid.The torque a verter will actually limit my top speed because with it at its highest gearing, its still lower than the gear ratio of a centrifugal clutch. Reply:I think the super charger is a smog pump off an older cheby.  Awesome project.... Reply:Does that give enough flow to make boost?  If so, how much?
Reply:Your right it is a smog pump from a small block Chebby.On this 400cc motor with the pulley ratios it makes almost 10lbs boost.
