Greetings,I have been using an old Lincoln idealarc sp 200 for mild steel for the past couple of years with no problems. I recently switched it over to stainless and am now having reocurring issues. often, when I begin a weld the wire will seem to burn in at the mig tip causing the wire to bend and ball up where it enters the liner. But it's not the same type of burn in I am used to occasionally getting when I weld mild steel ( there will still be SS wire exposed at the tip).I installed a new liner hoping this would solve the problem, but it keeps happening. Very frustrating. Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem may be?

Reply:The wire is .030 and the liner is rated for .030 - .035
Reply:I have the same issues with our SS wire welders, it seems like it is arcing inside the contact tip. No solutions to the problem yet, but switching to centerfire consumables helps.Have we all gone mad? |
