Can Metal Core (Select Arc 70C-T) weld over a flux core (71 Elite) pass.

Reply:Yes, you should be able to weld that metal cored product overtop of the flux core deposit.  Weld deposit chemistries are very similar.  To be safe, I would take a grinder and skim the top of the flux cored weld bead.  Clean the flux core deposit to bright metal, before welding with metal core over top.  This is to ensure there is no slag residue left on the surface.Benson's Mobile Welding - Dayton, OH metro area - AWS Certified Welding Inspector
