Hey,Today I used my welder (MIG LE175+) for the first time in more than three weeks and that thing was working weird. All of the sudden it was working like a torch. It was melting the wire and the piece, and it was red hot but it did not sound like the famous beacon thing. Can anyone tell what was that?Thank youAlfredo
Reply:Given where you live, it's possible your wire got a coating of rust, and isn't feeding properly. Also possible, bad tip that is worn too far to make proper contact with the wire, or poor ground. Those are a couple starting points.Appreciation Gains You Recognition-
Reply:Or maybe it wasn't getting gas.
Reply:After a few weeks off, I'm a bit rusty as well.Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:Sounds like burnback. (maybe?) Was it welding the wire to the contact tip? That can be caused by kinking your gun leads, to high of a voltage setting for the given amperage setting, or what Franz said. It sounds more like the voltage problem to me since it was melting everything and getting so hot. Hard to say without seeing it...Hope I helped.Lean mean TIG weldin' machineSquarewave 175
Reply:fla jim has it. I did the same thing once. Forgot to open the valve on the cylinder. Reason I say so is because you mentioned 'torch', and that's how I would describe my experience.
Reply:I've never done that And if you believe that I've got some Enron stock to sellyou |
