Quite possibly the handiest thing I have put on my work truck.  From lifting huts off wells, to unloading pumps and motors... or anything else I don't want to have to lift. The upper 'pink' part was found at the local scrap recycling facility.  I think it and the other parts and pieces I found that day totaled like 15 bucks.  The winch originally was a boat winch.  Had a lever that you flipped to lower or lift the load, very dangerous with a heavy load.  You had to control the rate of decent.  If you lost your grip, it was coming down.  The winch you see now is a brake winch.  It'll hold a 390 Ford FE motor ( with the outriggers down ).  Not a problem with the new brake winch. On the rear view, the V legs are the outriggers up.  Cheap cheesy simple design.  This is version one.  I have to repair a few welds that broke during adjustment and testing ( read calibrating with sledge hammer ).The unit fits into a receiver hitch.  Pretty handy.  Enjoy!( now that I typed this, If i can get the pics to show up... ) Attached Images

Reply:Good Job.How ironic.  I just made one of those about 3 weeks ago.  I haven't painted mine either.  Mine mounts in the trailer hitch also.It is heavy and difficult to mount in the the hitch.Been thinking about posting the Job specific lifts I made this year, but none are painted and I just figured out how to take pictures of welds.

Reply:Looks good Slammed.  I was browsing the Northern Tool catalog today and saw a bed-type crane like yours with a brake winch for $569 + S&H.  You did pretty good for scrounging in the scrap yard.Hobart 140 Handler w/ gasHyperTherm Powermax 380 Plasmaoxy/acetylene
