TIG ing Alum. What Precautions.

Ok I have been hearing all of these high freq horror stories and precautions.  I am not sure what I should do and it's delaying me from learning to weld alum.  It is at my home and I planned to unplug my computers.  Then someone told me I need a separate Gd. rod to ground my case of the machine.  What a PITA.  Do I need to turn off the TVs and That kind of stuff?
Reply:I've been running my tig in the basement below the tv(big screen) and I'm sure one of these women I have here has turned on the computer while I was doing it too. I think the high freq is just to start the arc ,I haven't had any problems so far. I have all outlets grounded normally but nothing extra. Tell me a horror story. DavidDavid
Reply:I wouldn't sweat it. I weld at home without a separate ground. Same at work. The only thing I have seen happen at work is to sometimes cause a false alarm on a fence intruder alarm system.
Reply:I tig at home and it doesn't affect our computers.  If I fool around with the HF and make it jump large arcs it will cause our home alarm system to start beeping and produce some error code., despite the alarm not being armed.  I just reset the system and all is well.
Reply:I use my SD180 frequently in the Magic Garage with aluminum. If there was problems in the house, "She who must be obeyed" wouldn't hesitate to let me know.
Reply:Guess it's time to melt some aluminum!
