I have a Dynasty 200 DX. What is the thickest mild steel this welder is capable of welding, in SMAW/stick mode? (safe solid welds)It is connected to 220v. Rated output should be 200amps 28 volts, 20% duty cycle. The manual says 1/4 steel max and also 1/4 aluminum max.I mainly use it for tig, wanted to do some pipe projects smaw like, swingset, seesaw, bushog(rotary cutter repair). I did not want to use wrong weapon to attack with. I only been welding bought a year. self taught. thanksMiller Dynasty 200DXHypotherm Powermax 30Lincoln Ranger 8
Reply:On 220v that machine will easily do 1"+ with multi pass using stick, if you take your time and don't exceed the duty cycle. 200 amps DC should get you well into 5/32" 7018 IIRC. Granted you need to have a clue what you are doing to do so and do it right. It's a bit more than just piling weld on.On tig 1/4" is about the most you will get with out getting super fancy. The machine doesn't have the amps to go much past 1/4" alum, and there's not much call for tigging steel past 1/4" as far as I know..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:isnt the concept of duty cycle in stick welding a useless one?i can burn up a 1/8" 14" stick of 7018 at 125 amps in 4 minutes... |
