Hello, I'm a newbie with some mildly retarded / possibly offensive questions:It seems there are a bunch of trades which heavily utilize welding; boilermaking, (pipe, gas, steam)fitting, and any others I'm missing ... and then there is just welding? Is welding a trade in it's own right, or is it a foundation for the others? I swear I'm not trying to offend anyone. I ask because my local technical school offers foundation programs for each and then just C-B-A-ticket programs. The choice is a little overwhelming. I'm not certain what I want to be when I grow up (23) other than I want to weld, so I figure taking the C-ticket foundation program is probably the best option unless I decide I want to definitively be a _X. Concur?  I hear stories of welders making enormous amounts of money: I know it is not an urban legend. Consider: http://alis.alberta.ca/wageinfo/Cont...nID=8&NOC=7265 a few are making $88/hr. Just doesn't say what these few are doing. :P It's in the oil sands area but even there most are making around $37 -- not saying that's an amount to be trifled with. Would you say these wages are something anyone who works for it can hope to achieve are they reserved for the innate welding gods?
