denrep,I have both of those tools. I used the craftsman angle finder and could just not get an accurate reading because I am just not that experienced. I am sure that thousands of guys build drivelines with that tool and have no problems. The reason I got it was of my compound problems with my driveline. First, I lowered the one ton frame to axle. Then I installed a gear vendors aux tranny. My angles were so goofed up you wouldn't believe it. Most drivelines have a downward slope. Mine went down, then up, then down and varied in the range of the suspension as well when I aired up the air bags. Severe vibrations. This was a two piece driveline with a center carrier bearing setup. what the digital unit does that the craftsman doesn't... umm, the math? heheYou can set it on the front shaft, zero it, and then set it on the back shaft and it will read the difference. No adding or subtracting needed. Ok, so it was just an excuse to buy a new tool? I dunno. Like nobody ever used that excuse before?Lincoln Power Mig 210MP MIGLincoln Power Mig 350MP - MIG and Push-PullLincoln TIG 300-300Lincoln Hobby-Weld 110v  Thanks JLAMESCK TIG TORCH, gas diffuser, pyrex cupThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 101My brain
Reply:Cool - I thought maybe it would recommend height changes on multiple carrier bearings, to distribute u-joint angles evenly. Must be you also zero it on the trans and axle? Thanks for the info
