Assuming a feeder, what other models/brand is out there that one should give consideration in the same price range as the Lincoln ranger 250 or 305g. The 305g would be at the high end of $$ limitations.I will be building a pipe coral fence this is my excuse (reason) to get an engine drive welder. I will also have uses as backup power for well (house water source) and maybe repair work on site assuming I go back to school and get some certs and I get hungry enough where I need to get dirty"after a long day of doing nothing...its gooood to kick back" Pumbaa
Reply:XRight after I bought my Ranger 8, I bought a Miller SGA 100C controller and a spool gun, so I could do aluminum.I know your a "RED" kind of guy. Why did you choose the 250, over the 10,000. The 305 is about twice the bucks. I kind  of like having the AC welding option. I probably won't ever get the Tig module, but it's nice to have the option of doing so. Also AC is nice for cast iron. How do you figure on moving it around. My Ranger weighs about 530 #'s. I stole the idea for the factory carriage. I used Flat proof wheel barrow tires, and casters for the front. The welder is balanced on the big wheels. T can roll it on ruogh groubnd without getting the casters stuck. I can lift it up and tie it down on my trailer when I need to go some place.I have it set up so I can run my house, if I shut off the water heater, and AC. Attached Images
Reply:I dont know, I was just sort've going by cv capability. My plan is to team it up with a LN-25 (which is black) and build a 'jeep' type trailer to hook up behind my Fj-40.I would love to flat bed a old Willys pickup or old an dodge powerwagon, but I sold the  Willys  I had- it was a basket case needing too much time & $ to get going.Your set up looks pretty cool I remember checking it out from your ealier posts.Other than Lincolns Pipeliners, I really do like the way Millers look, but sticking to output stats and dollar costs, I always seem to gravitate back to Red. But I will give them (blue/other) closer looks when I figure out what it is exactly that  makes a good engine driven welder."after a long day of doing nothing...its gooood to kick back" Pumbaa
Reply:I looked at LN 25's, a lot of $$$'s. I wonder if I could run my MM210 of of the ranger?

Reply:fla jim i phoned miller and asked the same question about running a 210 off my ranger 8 and they said it would workjim
Reply:X, A while back, I was talking to one of my welder suppliers. I was asking about those same two machines. They told me to steer clear of the 250. It seems they don't like the heat here too much. He recommended the 10k or 305g. At the time we talked, he had 7 of the 250's in for electronic work.... all were less than 6-8 months old. This was in Jan. this year. He said that if I wanted a 250 to wait awhile till they got better cards in them.Don't know where you are ... just figured I'd pass this along.BTW as expensive as those machines are, I decided to rebuild my BLUE one!  All my welders are blue, but they came close to having a red one next to them. From what I hear, those 2 machines weld great!
Reply:X,Knowing what I know now about the red and blue small machines, I would probably look very hard at a trailblazer ( 301g or tb dc) over the rangers. Just a preference, not due to recommendations. Once you get past the color, they seem to be fairly equal. Another two cents.
Reply:Thanks James fpr the info.I'm a blue kind of guy myself. But I got a real good deal on the Ranger, and its given me good service.
