Hello,   I purchased a Thermal Arc 150gts inverter tig from an auction about a month ago. I'm not very good at tig, but know the basics. I noticed the arc on the tig wanders. It wanders a lot. The cup also gets very hot. I cant control the arc direction at all.  Ive tried different tungsten(just incase one was cracked) and still no go.... The tank of argon I've been using is fairly old( over an year old) and the torch is air cooled. Any suggestions?? Thanks
Reply:How did you grind the tungsten? I have noticed that if you don't grind it right, or dip in the puddle that the arc will wander. Those are the only easy things to check that I know of. Maybe someone else has more ideas?
Reply:Thanks for the response, twinturboc10--I've used both pre ground and ones that I ground my self usinga belt sander. I've never had issues in the past with grinding tungsten.

Reply:Are you welding indoor or outdoor? The wind can sweep away the argon and cause a screwed up arc. Ask me how I know? It really stinks when your item is to big to come inside and you have a wind that comes and goes.
Reply:argon flow is 15. i weld indoors.ill try all of the above. Thank you all.also... anyone know of any good welderrepair shops in socal. Im in L.A.
Reply:uhhh, no one mentioned polarity. you do have the torch negative right? if you have it positive, it will do what you described.never fast enough
Reply:Ok! I tried everything I could and no go... I took it to a welder repair shop near by andI just got the phone call today. "your welder will cost $876.43 to fix" the guy saidthat there is no load. no load(wtf does that mean)??? he said the main board is gone. I bought the welder(thermal arc 150gts) for $800.I dont understand. Is it possible for the main boardto be gone and yet still produce an arc which ballsup the tungsten and over heats the cup?? and last but not least Does anyone know of any goodwelder repair shops in socal??? anyone want to buy it...giver me an offer  Thanks again....
