MIG spool corrosion?

I just bought my first MIG machine and I'm wondering if corrosion is a problem on the spool?  Is anything available to coat the spool with to prevent corrosion?
Reply:Sort of depends on what part of Ak yer in.Close to water, you'll get corrosion on the wire, and the only way to stop it will be removing the spool and keepin it warm & dry.Appreciation Gains You Recognition-
Reply:I spray WD40 on my wire periodically.  Keeps the rust away and doesn't seem to affect feed speed.  The little felt wiper in front of the feed mech probably helps clean off any excess.Get it hot and hit it hard...
