Anyone have plans for a carrier that goes on Hitch on rear of car for a Wheel Chair, I need plans for a heavy chair it is electric. Any help appreciated.
Reply:how heavy are we talking, and what vehicle do you plan on putting it onto? a 500 pound chair may not be very well apprecieted by a honda civic. also, what kind of dimensions are we talking? would something like this be an option...http://www.etrailer.com/pc-CC2~MSCR.htmjust a thoughtLater,Andy
Reply:Chair is enroute to Grandchield, Don't know weight yet, But will on back of Monta Carlo, and Buick Raineer, Thanks for picture I am getting ideas.
Reply:I have one of those "Hoveround" types of wheelchairs that I used when I was unable to walk. The picture in the link above is very similar to what I had for a carrier except that mine was built by my son. I have an F150 and could not even tell the chair was back there. Two people could lift the chair easily, one could struggle but could pick it up if needed. Not sure what it weighs but probably less than I do.You may need some air shocks or something on the Monte Carlo but maybe not.IF the chair you are talking about is a regular motorized wheelchair that many people use for long term disabilities, I believe those are a lot heavier. The rack itself can be made of Aluminum to save on weight of the rack.Bob

Reply:This site might give you some ideas.Actually the prices don't look too bad, considering liability issues if anything homemade broke.http://www.a1-medical-supplies.net/p...iltngo500.html |
