I use a miller xmt with a cobramatic cabinet and a cobra max mig gun right now its water cooled I was wondering if I really need a water cooled torch the next time I buy one or not. What I weld is aluminum 6061 t6 1/4"to1/2" thick.
Reply:How does your current gun perform for you??, Watercooled obviously jacks up your price, but an overheated gun or user can cost more....StangnetShop Full Of Stuff. Joey
Reply:I use both the air cooled torch seems to hold up to a water cooled torch the water cooled are more of a pain to repair than the air cooled also the cooler is a factor.
Reply:We use a water cooled cobra on our lincoln machine. But for some reason when you trigger some of the weld it likes to burn back and burn tips. The best we can figure is that the aluminum heats and the slow start feed wont push it out fast enough. But if you stop the slow start, you get cold starts. Kind of a pain sometimes when you've got a bit of a gap and have to trigger.Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:^^, do the water cooled that big of a temp difference??StangnetShop Full Of Stuff. Joey |
