last day of tig class,alot of pics

Hi,  I just wanted to say that this is my new home.  I have been taking welding classes at my local community college.  I have pics of the last weeks,first tig class that I have taken. any input would be great.  I know that they are not perfect and I see what i need to do to make them better.  let me know what you think. two pieces are stainless and the rest mild steel.

Reply:Hey Stone-Elvis,Great looking welds for a beginner, which proves you had a superb instructor and you are a superb student who has the "hunger" to learn and improve on a continuing basis. After 43+ years, I still learn and the neverending goal to get it "perfect" is still there. Listen, when you get straight "A's" from Zap, you're doin' good.....probably better than good. Never feel bad when you make mistakes....that's how you learn to get better. Learn all the processes(MIG,Stick,TIG, O/A) and you will never lack work.....quality is in demand....believe me. Reply:I'd just be a bit more careful when cleaning the mild steel plate.  You can see the mill scale flaking off around the HAZ.  Other than that, looks great.

Reply:doing good, kid. If you taper off your heat at the end of your weld with your foot pedal, you won't have that irregularity at the end. Also if you adjust your heat/speed of travel you can get the front of your stainless backpurge to have a color of closer resemblence to the back.Not bad for starters. I think it may be depenent on how bad you want it as to wheather or not you become a great welder. Oh, yea and how maticulous and persistent you are.
