Here ya go, the biggest job of the day. My son has a chinchilla, he has worn out the axles on his wheel, so I rebuilt it and now it has a broken wire. SO I fired up the Arcmaster 185, Plugged in the torch cooler, picked up a piece of .035 mig wire off the floor and let er have it! 30 amps max, 3/32 red (kinda big, but wasn't going to change it).No dimes in this job A new wheel is $25.00 Its probably out of balance now DavidLast edited by David R; 12-27-2007 at 05:41 PM.Real world weldin. Reply:nice intricate work David. remember, it's not the destination, but the journey that makes it all worth while. if it were me, i'd probably have done the same thing. good practice and a bit of a challenge. while you are at it, why not brush it a bit and make it shiney? i think it would have been funny to see a little girbil thing flying really fast with the wheel as its foot got caught in the hole tho. lol...Later,Andy
Reply:nice fix david best thing is you made your son and the chinchilla happy Creative metal Creative metal Facebook
Reply:Good fix, however that squirrel cage runner seems to be the wrong max. capacity for such a furry little buddy. He's run that thing waaaaaaaaaay pastits limit. John - fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!- bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:If you look closely you will see 1/4" bolts in the sides. It had 1/8" rod to spin on. The chinchilla wore them out until it cut them off. I installed the "heavy Duty" bolts about a year ago. Still holding up.Here is the critter that runs that wheelReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
