Has anyone built a shop out of corrugated sheet metal, not sure of the proper name, like those used at mini-storage facilities? I have all the sheet metal,c's,z's and purlins but don't know where to get the beams. Everything else was given to me from a construction clean-up. My question is where do I buy the main support beams/columns? Thanks,Dave
Reply:Hi Dave, I can't answer your question. But if you poke around on this site I suspect you'll find the answer.http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/index.phpIf you don't want to stand behind our Troops, feel free to stand in front of them.
Reply:Build it as a pole barn and use the sheet metal you have as a skin.Miller 252 Mig WelderMiller Spoolmatic 15AMiller Econotig TIG/ARC WelderMiller Spectrum 375 Extreme Plasma Cutter
Reply:Do you mean pole buildings (or pole barns) by chance? http://www.easybuildings.com/If so around here we just use 4x6 treated posts and space them 8'. Then we run 2x4's across them to screw/nail the steel to. On top we put header and then set trusses or run rafters, whichever you prefer. Hopefully that's what you were looking for.-Cory
Reply:Dave, if you're close to Louisiana, i work for a steel building co. and can fab any size beams you need. all we do is metal buildings. S&S Steel Buildings, Arnaudville, La. (337)-754-5097. we're closed this week. HAPPY NEW YEAR
Reply:Thanks Cajun, that would be awesome. Any idea what they cost, I have never had to buy them. The shop is 30X60
Reply:30x60 is an easy one. We usually just use W8x21's on that size with a 2/12 roof. Use them for columns and beams..simpler that way. My shop is a 35x45 and that is what I used on the addition side.
Reply:No Dave, I don't, but can get a quote next week. I'm just one of the welder/fabricators. You said 30X60, but I also need to know the height and pitch, and where are you located, zip code because everything we do is to code. Comes complete with clips welded to columns for girts, clips welded on rafters for purlins, bolts for connections and anchor bolt plan. You can e-mail me at [email protected] |
