These are presents you bought for yourself, I got me a speedglas helmet, a pack of 5356 aluminium 2.4 filler rods a set of boot spats and a cotton hood thing to cover my head to stop the hot bits of metal finding their way down my leather coat and on my head, I also got a ferret and a phone.Whatd the rest of you get?.

Reply:I didn't get what I asked for.....    I wanted a new O/A outfit.  My old, (very old) victor gages, are leaking.  However the holiday's did give me some time to go out a play with my welder's.  Actually I spent more time using my MIG. (Hobart 140)  It's still pretty new to me, as I only picked it up in September, So I guess I could call it an early Xmas present to myself.  I have been to busy to spend much time playing with it.  However the time that I did get to spend this past week has shown a lot of improvement on my welds.  I was getting a lot of ugly welds  (porosity) with the flux core .035 wire.  ( I have the gas kit, but no shop.... yet)    I discovered that if I slow down a bit. and work the wire into the puddle a little more, The beads look much better.Lincoln 225 AC/DC, Hobart 140 Mig. Oxy/propane Victor torch.(2) Makita 5" angle grinders  one with zip disk, 14" chop saw.  and just about every other tool you can think of. Whoever has the most toys when he die's ..... Wins!

Reply:You guys all did really well.  I ended up with a new toolbox, a bunch of vise-grip type welding clamps, some new gloves, leather apron and rod holder, magnetic sweeper, and a chop saw.  I've only had the time to make one cut with the chop saw, but it seemed to work pretty well.Contact me for any metal polishing needs you may have, my avatar is a pic of a standard, painted fire axe that I ground, sanded polished and buffed to a mirror finish.

Reply:I didn't get any welding/fabrication stuff directly, but I did get a $50 American Express gift card that will pay for half of a HF Planishing Hammer.I gave my girlfriend a gate for her driveway, but was unable to get all the metal before Christmas, so I made her a small 8"x8" version of the design until I get the actual gate done (which will be 10' wide by 7' high).  I'll post pictures when I'm done with the gate (it'll be a few weeks.)My girlfriend's daughter a metal anole I made at work (an anole is a small lizard, she has two of them).  Here he is: Attached ImagesPatrickLincoln 175HD

Reply:Bought myself a Thermal Arc Arcmaster 185, but it arrived broken so I'll have no "first weld" shots untill next week sometime. Also bought a gas lense, but again, that's going to have to wait untill next week.
Reply:My son gave me the coolest tape measure ever. It has a rollerblade style wheel bearing in it and this tape is SO SMOOTH! I can't get myself to take it into the garage yet. It is on the coffee table. Reply:Well lets see. Mom got me some new Double H boots. G/F got me a couple of pairs of long underwear/shirt for the cold. I got a pair of Dickies coverall that were like high waters. Reply:I got a 5 piece rigid cordless set with sawzall, 1/4" impact, 1/2" hammerdrill, circular saw, flash light Two Batteries and charger with a nice orange bag to carry them in.  And I also went to The Hom Depot and bought a 5700 watt Yamaha Generator for $400. They were on sale because the 5000 watt generators were back ordered so they sold their 5700watt gennies for the price of the 5700w (original price was $900 a week later).  the Generator runs my Miller 180 like a champ. for any of you interested.  a fine substitue for any one looking to run mig in the field and cant afford a portable gas powered welder with a mig attatchment.all of this stuff will make installs much more efficient! and quick too.

Reply:I got a 1/2 barrel of IL Vicino India Pale Ale.  My little work shop is too damn cold to work in, but the beer is hanging in there around 45 degrees.
