I have a 1961 Ideal-Arc 250. I bought it brought it home hooked it up and it doesn't work. I have juice at the plug, juice to the switch, and juice out of the switch. The fan doesn't come on and when I throw the switch there is no power sound at all. What could be the problem???? It is not the model that does DC..Thank You Bob
Reply:Did you check the "juice" with a meter to make sure there is 240 volts?Miller Challenger 172Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC 225/150Miller Maxstar 150 STLVictor 100CVictor JourneymanOxweld OAHarris O/ASmith O/A little torchNo, that's not my car.
Reply:yes - got 240 What is the thing on the side that looks like maybe a capacitor or something? It has two wires from it?

Reply:Turk, where are the fuses located? I was thinking the same thing but didn't find any...
Reply:What is the EXACT reading you get with the meter between the 2 hot wires? Not trying to be a dick, but wrong power is the issue probably 80+% of the time with something like this. To many go hot to ground, get 115 or so with both and assume that means they are good and have 220v power when the meter will read "0" between the 2 hots because they are pulling power from the same leg at the main..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:So i need to check between the 2 wires that are labeled H1&H2, which would be the two at the bottom of the switch? Sorry not an electrition.. |
