I was at a customer's shop earlier, and they had a line-up bar that was 5' long.  It of course came down to a point on one end, and the other end was gently curved to use like a pry bar.  The bar was 1" in diameter with a silver finish and was, I bet, a fairly cheap forging.  But boy was it handy!  I used it to move around a skid-steer bulldozer blade, and then to line up the blade with the mounting pins on the turntable after replacing the bushings.  I've got digging irons, wrecking bars, and crowbars but this is a tool I've got to find!  They got it used and there's no markings on it.  Any ideas where I could find something like this?  I struck out at the local hardware stores and on ebay.  Ebay has a couple similar, but they look like they were made on a blacksmith's anvil out of square stock.  Me not impressed.
Reply:I have a couple different lengths that i have bought from my Komatsu dealer , should be able to find one at most equipment dealers/suppliers.

Reply:Might look around for a tankers bar.  We used them in the military and civilian world doing heavy stuff too. A little heavier and a little longer, but tough to beat.BobI'm spending my Kids inheritance, I dont like him that much anyway!!!!!!Enuff tools to do the job, enough sense to use em.Anybody got a spare set of kidneys?  Trade?

Reply:Thanks all for your suggestions.  I just got back to the puter after taking a long trip.  Humor me - what is a "sleaver" bar?  Never heard that terminology before.  I'll go look on some of these sites you recommended.
Reply:So I checked all of that out - thanks for the suggestions.  The closest I found to what I was using before was what you all are calling a "sleever"/"sleaver" bar on that OTC website.  It's 6" shorter but that's no biggie.  The Ames stuff was close but I like the round rod as opposed to hex.  Sorry about no pics, but I didn't have the camera with me.
Reply:Sleever bar is an Ironworker term, like beater, bull prick, spud, etc......Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:Had another thought about a long pry bat type tool that I use all the time.  Matco sells a 57 inch bent tip scredriver that is da shiz for heavy prying and line up work.  I think I paid around 95 bucks for it at the time, but I have been unable to bend or break it and I am sure I have exceeded it's design and use guide on at least a hundred occassions.  It has a fairly nice comfortable screwdriver style grip with a cap you can pound on with a sledge and a 3/4 square shank with a 1 1/2 wide "blade" on the tip that turns like 20-30 degrees.  All of the major tool trucks have em, but the Matco and Corwells are pretty near unbreakable for me so far.  Since I got jacked up I havent used it much, but still no rust or corrosion in the bleack oxide coating either.BobI'm spending my Kids inheritance, I dont like him that much anyway!!!!!!Enuff tools to do the job, enough sense to use em.Anybody got a spare set of kidneys?  Trade?

Reply:Ironworker term, that explains it.  VA being a right-to-work state, I don't think I've ever even met anybody who works for a union.  Besides teachers or truckers maybe.
Reply:I have two that I bought at Tractor Supply.  Yeah, they're cheaper material and made in china, but I haven't been able to bend them yet.  They have a point on one end and a 2" wide chisel on the other.  I don't remember the price, but I don't think it was very expensive, $20ish maybeEdit: similar to this one http://www.tractorsupply.com/tools/h...-72-in-4412437Last edited by AndyA; 12-02-2010 at 08:03 PM.Dynasty200DX w/coolmate1MM210MM VintageESAB miniarc161ltsLincoln AC225Victor O/A, Smith AW1ACutmaster 81IR 2475N7.5FPRage3Jancy USA1019" SBAEAD-200LE
