Hi thereAfter a few beers & whisky's last year I decided to chop the roof off my old Fiat 126 (the smallest car available in '90) which had been sitting in my garden for a few years. It seemed like a good idea at the time. My friends all thought I was a bit mad so I tried to convince them that I would make the car into a road legal speedster. Afterall the weather is really good in Scotland so a speedster makes real senseIt's not nice to bs so I decided to see it through. Work hasn't started yet but I have bought a mig 105 gas "turbo" to attempt it. I look at it as practice for my Lancia which is starting to perforate.Anyhow, I was hoping for a bit of advice, well maybe quite a lot- involving what the hell i'm doing and how to go about strengthening it. I don't think the laws in the UK are terribly stringent on this although it may change in the near future but would like a strong car. Many thanksGrantGlasgow This is a very interesting project: 12693.1 http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=848531&page=1
Reply:As far a local laws, I don't know what it would be called over the big pond, But check with the office you register your tags with, the probably have a person who could help your questions out. For making the new supports stronger you should use square or box tubing. Make sure to get some practice before you start on the tube though, safety first!!StangnetShop Full Of Stuff. Joey |
