Here is a small wall mounted rail I built for a client. I did a little tig work on another project so I decided to give pipe a try. pipe is 1.25 schedule 40. Scratch start, 1/16 electrode red I decided to bevel both sides because I plan on grinding the welds. The bevel deeper than expected.
Reply:completed rail
Reply:Nice, does that dragster have a remote?DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Add a second pass to fill it up and smooth it off with a sanding disc and it look just fine.I would suggest next time to shine the steel about 1/4" either side of the weld zone this will help with some of the undercut. Your heat control I "assume" was limited to a preset level (no foot or thumb control), if so no comment, if not then as the part got hotter you should have backed out on the amps difficult at best with out a remote amp controller. All in all good job. Jimmy
Reply:Thanks guysDavid no control. Thanks for the suggestions, Jimmy. I think too, my problem was that I beveled quite deep gauranteeing a the need for a second pass. I will run another pass.
