OffShore Contrats/Other Trades

I was just wondering about what kind of contacts are offered overseas. I realize that it probably varies from project to project and the company and location may have something to do with it, but I was just wondering how long are some of these contracts that you can get with oversea companies. Is it a year, 2 years, half a year or even a few month sometime? I'm just curious because if I when I get into the profession of welding I am very interested in travelling and just want an idea of what the average contract is and how it lasts. I also have one more question and that is what other trades do you guys think would go hand in hand with welding? Is there such a trade that would help expand your diversities with welding and other professions by learning 2 trades, or is possibly better to get 1 trade and countinue education in university? thanks
