I have two gas cylinders with my millermatic 175. One holds argon/co2 and the other is straight co2. The co2 cylinder is smaller and made of aluminum, making it very portable. What differences should I expect when switching from the argon mix to the straight co2? ( I have the proper regulators)Thanks, Doc.Some of the things I do would cause a person to get hurt, expelled, arrested, or possibly deported. To put it another way, don't try this at home.Look at the stars whenever your can. That light travelled a long way to get here, dont let it go to waste on some patch of asphalt.
Reply:I do not really no much about mig welders, but I think if your going to use the straight o2 instead of the argon/ co2 mix you need the flux core wire which cost a little more. Thats my guess
Reply:CO2 is much hotter. You will get more spatter, and deeper penetration with it. Your welder settings will be slightly below what you would use for Ar/CO2 mix. CO2 is all I use on my MM135. I use C-25 on the MM210.Hank
Reply:Like hankj said the CO2 will give you more spatter , but it will also make your weld bead ropier and much less visually appealing. Even though CO2 is a lot cheaper than an argon mix, your weld cost is nearly the same becauseof the higher crown of the weld and the excessive spatter. |
