I'm doing GTAW on mild steel in school. I was just wondering if you guys make your beads in mild steel look like a roll of coins or with closer spaced ripples - almost like a smaller 7018 bead? My instructor says it can be done either way, but the method he taught me makes the 7018 lookin bead.Does it matter? I think the coins definately look better and I figured out how to do it on my own.Just kinda curious what other's do.
Reply:Whatever your most comfortable with.(as long as your covering yourself completely)Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:mine looks like the same way on steel but sometimes i get the coin look also,on aluminum my beads look great now like dimes.
Reply:all in torch control and walking the cup, but theres no set way of doing it, just get comfortable and cover. If your set on getting that look though, try different holds on your torch, I hold at the end of my handle w/the hose between my pinky and ring finger. |
