Ive started building a gate for my dads yard, come to find out, the gaps are to large, the dogs gonna sneak out! Any idea to fill up the gaps at the bottom that will still keep it looking good? The gap inbetween the pickets is 5.5".Thanks!

Reply:expanded metal would be easiest, these people have some interesting variations http://www.newmetals.com/nmcats/DecoGuard.pdf
Reply:Adding decorative panels in between the vertical bars is also a great way to go.  This is just the first site that came up in a google search, however, I'm sure some of the people here who do fences and gates more often can provide you with different suppliers and probably a wider range.http://www.steelsupplylp.net/decorat...bcategory_id=5--Wintermute"No man's knowledge here can go beyond his experience." - John Lockewww.improvised-engineering.comManufacturer Agnostic:Blood----------Sweat---------Tears----|------------------|----------------|----Lincoln Red, Miller Blue, Esab Yellow
Reply:Short pickets(half height) with a spear point in between existing piks.....
Reply:You're going to have to add something in the gaps. Thin twisted bar can be bought fairly cheaply and will probably look ok. Or just move the existing verticals closer together - double the number if you've already started. Even if the extras only bridge between the two lower horizontals.Put an electric fence unit on the gates... most dogs are too dumb to jump through the gaps instead of walking. So they'll get zapped every time.

Reply:Well, I'd just add a couple of bars across the bottom. Keep them centered and they'll look just fine. Take a look at this. Attached Images
Reply:When you made the gaps 5.5", that was your mistake. Code is 4.0". I also thought the same as Butch007, some horizontal peices are the simplest.City of L.A.
