Hello - I just joined the forum today. I am a metal sculptor here in wilmington,NC. I have a miller 175 and have just received a commission that will require me to do aluminum welding. I am also in the market for a spoolmate 3035 and a SGA 100 control box. How much of a learning curve is there from steel (stainless) to aluminum?  Thanx to all...Great Site!
Reply:With the spoolgun you won't be wasting time clearing "birdsnests", so your learning curve will be short!  The 175 will work best on stock .125 or less.  .250 is possible, but that will take some practice. You'll need 100% argon shielding gas.Hank
Reply:Don't know if you are in a rush or if cash is an issue, but check this out. http://www.wirepropellant.com/concept.phpThe spoolgun will coat you at least $647. The wire propellant system $200.  If you can wait a couple of weeks, I'll have my Miller set up with the wire propellant system and will post a report on how it works.Millermatic 135Miller Big 40Lincoln 225AC
Reply:it has been said that that system is a waist of money97 S10 excab, VORTECH supercharger, fmic.a broken down 13.8 @ 97Lincoln SP135 PLUS
Reply:No offence, but I have read a lot that it is a good system, and you are the first to say it's not. Do a search for wire propellant and read the reports from trucking companies, farm and ranch magazines, municipalities, and others. TBillMillermatic 135Miller Big 40Lincoln 225AC
