I am remodeling my kitchen and am installing a new hood. There is quite a bit of offset between the 6" exhaust exit of the hood and the 7" exhaust pipe in my celing. The range hood sits underneath a 12" high cabinet so I need to make both an adapter and an offset pipe to connect the two. I am thinking about buying some thin stainless sheet and forming a tube and weld it in angle to accomplish the offset.Anyone else have any ideas?I don't have the exact offset dimension yet."Common sense is not very common"http://www.tahoekeyshome.com
Reply:if for some reason yer plan craps out you could make a plenum(box) with 2 connections. either way remember this thing wil fillwith grease so if you can make cleanout provision so much the better...
Reply:Good idea about the plenum box and the cleanout. Would you get more grease in a plenum box vs just the vent tube itself because of the flow properties through the plenum box?"Common sense is not very common"http://www.tahoekeyshome.com

Reply:Originally Posted by weldbeadi believe every meal needs to include bacon, so i just expect a lot of grease..seriously though flow patterns are hard to predict, but quick enough either way the walls will get a coaating and eventually they will be" saturated "and then stuff will start to build upand can even burn..i think codes require welded stainless...seems like the plenumdesign might be easier to include a removable grease cleanout..
Reply:The screen/filter should catch what little grease makes it up there.
