I just got back from a trip to Bolivia, South America.  What a horrible place, to anyone thinking about going there.  I took some pictures of some beautiful "security system" fabrication for you guys. Attached Images
Reply:Well, I was in Buenos Aires, Argentina a while ago, which I think is one of the coolest places on earth.And their standards of metalwork are just a bit better than what you saw in Bolivia.Here is my younger son, Torque, at a cemetery there, with this amazing gate that is hand forged. This is a little 10' square crypt. In the same cemetery, there are another 3000 or so similar gates, all of the highest quality.
Reply:Man, I must be touring the wrong countries.  that ironwork is definitely pictureworthy, wish I could have found something better to snap while we were gone
Reply:Buenos Aires has 10,000 or 20,000 buildings with some of the best metalwork in the world- hand forged art noveau, french regency, art deco and more. It just goes on and on and on. European immigrant workers, from about 1880 thru the second world war, built some amazing stuff. Plus, the food is great.And everything locally made costs about 1/3 what it does here- like food, drink, lodging, clothes, shoes, and so on. Imported stuff is expensive, electronics and miller welders- but hey, you cant have everything.
Reply:oh man.... you wanna talk about scary welds for a security system... that brings back memories.I got arrested one time and was handcuffed to a rail in the police station and couldnt help but notice the boogered up welds on this rail that was suppose to keep me from fleeing. Being a wise guy I decided to give it a good tug to see if i could break it off and sure enough it cracked, I told the officer I'd re-weld it for the cost of my bail. That didnt go over well...I like to party!
