This was built out of plow blade off of my granddad's farm (well over 50 years old) and the same end of the fire tube. Welded up mounting holes in the blade with a weldpak 135, and welded the horns on with Excalibur 7018. This thing is right at 5 feet wide. I apologize for the pic (taken at xmas) but it seldom sees sunlight except in the mid summer. Attached ImagesThe difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:Nice pic of a blue sky. Turn the flash on to try and get some light onto what you are taking a picture of. Otherwise the camera sees all that light coming from the bright sky and auto-adjusts the exposure for the sky and you end up with a silhouette. Or try the 'back-light' mode (some cameras have that mode). Or go to manual settings or meter the exposure on the dark shadowed object and then take the pic or tweak the exposure settings and force a couple of stops worth of extra exposure or ...Interesting horns and story. But what -is- it? A top of a gateway thingy?
Reply:That was taken with the flash on at xmas and I was late getting to leave (xmas day) managed to get sick and was rushing to get everything loaded and get back to the customers who were waiting on me 1000 miles away. I only had my little digital camera and not my Chinon 35mm. I had to take a photography class or two to get that bachelors in art ya know. Even in the winter the sunlight there is extremely intense and can deal you some real misery. The elevation is 4000 feet above sea level and there is zero pollution. It is mounted over a gate. The posts are 4 inch I think and the piece across the top is an old railroad cross tie. That should help with the scale on it.The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship.
