i picked up a Lincoln 135 and it came with a small spool( i think 1-2 lbs)of wire go?and whats a fair price for that wire? .035 flux core
Reply:Your asking sort of an undefinable question. If you've ever done any stick before, flux core will give you just a little bit more pound for pound than stick. Most stick electrodes give around 60% to 70% fill per pound. It's my perception that flux core is more but not much more than that. Solid wire is about 90% plus fill ratio. Really depends a tremendous amount on what it is you are going to be working on.I'm surprised they gave you .035 with a 135 class machine. If you're going to be working on thinner stuff you're going to be laying some pretty high beads.
Reply:I forgot pricing. I generally don't buy the small reels in flux core. I pay about 53 to 58 bucks for 10lbs of brand name T-GS in .030 at a local shop so that would be around $5.50 a pound. Expect to pay a lot more per pound for the small spools. You could always buy the pre-corroded at Harbor Freight for a lot less.
Reply:thanks sandy...it came with a sample spool of intershield .035'' nr-211-mp.ant
